WELCOME ALL Welcome to the Teeside Tai Chi Group homepage! Here you will find information about Tai Chi, Teesside University classes, and club activities. You will also have access to educational and supporting material including videos under the "Programs Available" menu, feel free to take a look. BEGINNERS ( I Hope We Will Have Many ) Beginners will be introduced to a short standing meditation called "Zhan zhang" followed by a set of twelve warm up exercises all of which should take no more than 20 minutes. This is then followed by learning the Yang 10 short form for 30 minutes followed by a short 10 minutes break. For the next 25 minutes partner work is taught beginning with sticking hands training. And finaly warm down exercises before we go. INTERMEDIATE ( Thanks for coming back this year ) Intermediate training can go down one or two paths, you may stick to the Yang family style and learn either the short 26 form or the long 108 form or you can branch out to get a feel for Tai Chi as a whole and learn the Chen 11, 18 or 75 form. While partnerwork may advance into pushing hands and partner forms such as Ta-Lu. ADVANCED ( Helping others is always encouraged ) Advanced or for those that simply want to try something diffrent, their is the weapons forms of both Yang & Chen style consisting of the Yang and Chen straight sword, the Yang and Chen Broadsword or even the Chen double straight sword. For those that are turned off by weapons we also provide tuition in 3 types of Fan form, the Chen Fan Form, Kung Fu Tai Chi Fan Form and the Xiyangmai Fan Form. If you prefare nothing in the hand their is the ultimate san shau two person set of 44 movements each which follows on from Ta-Lu training.
