What is RAG?
RAG is a banner used by Students’ Union’s all over the UK for over 100 years that covers student fundraising, it is often nicknamed Raise and Give. Each year Teesside RAG raise money in all sorts of ways, from street collections to Celebrity Auctions; the wackier the event the better!?!
Why get involved?
Volunteering for RAG enables you to help worthy causes as well as improving your CV and having lots of fun in the process. So if you’re a fun, outgoing, confident person, creatively minded or just interested in volunteering there is always a space on Teesside RAG team for you!!
We rely on volunteers to help plan events and run them on the day, as well as getting donations from you generous lot and give them to worthwhile causes.
In the past, we have held many fun events in order to raise money for various charities both locally and nationally. Events so far this year have included "The Crawl" and the "Club & Society Challenge", and our "RAG Week" takes place 12th - 20th March 2010.
What charities have RAG worked with?
Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Comic Relief, Children in Need, Breast Cancer Campaign, Zoë’s Place, MacMillan Cancer Support, and the British Heart Foundation to name but a few. We are always looking for new charities to help, so if you don’t see a charity which you feel strongly about, just let us know and we can help you put together your own fundraiser. All you have to do is ask!
How much did RAG raise last year?
Last year we held events such as: RAG Netball, Street Collecting, Comic Relief Karaoke, Cake Stalls, Singstar Nights, Bar Crawls and Club Nights, and lots more! In RAG Week 09 alone we raised over £11,000 and in total over the year we raised over £18,000!!!
