ABOUT ELECTIONS
The Students' Union is a democratic organisation and EVERY student has the opportunity to stand for elected office and to vote in our elections. There are loads of opportunities for holding elected office including the Officer Elections held each March - Visit the Officers section to find out more about our current Trustees or the Executive Officers Elect section for info on the people who will take over from them in July.
You can represent students at the National Union of Students Conference by running in elections usually held in November and you can also run to be a chair of key committees or officer a club or society.
To stand in or cast a vote in any election you must be a current student and be able to produce a Teesside University Swipe Card (TUSC) before casting a vote.
WHY HAVE ELECTIONS?
| The Students' Union is student lead, without elections there would be no opportunity for students to choose the people who lead their organisation, represent them to the University and lead clubs/ societies or key bodies such as Athletic Union, Union Senate and the Societies Federation. | |
| The Students' Union as we know it wouldn't exist or operate without students to lead it, it would just be another university department without independent services or a strong student voice to affect change in the University. |
